The Flat Tire Open

Charity Golf Tournament

June 23rd, 2024

The Flat Tire Open

For over 30 years, Mass Tire & Auto Service has proudly hosted a charity golf tournament called The Flat Tire Open. The goal of this charity event has always been - and always will be -  to assist someone in our local community who's in need of a little support.

While we do not raise enough to remove anyone’s financial concerns entirely, we are successful, however, in changing the way they view the future.

We show them they are never alone, we show them that assistance comes in many forms. They learn strangers are typically very willing to assist other strangers. They experience inner joy having several months of expenses taken care of, they find out that money is only one of the gifts they receive. They realize their perspective of the future changes. Prayers, Cards and well wishes are just as important in providing faith and hope.

This Year's Beneficiary:
Liz MacGillivray

Please take a moment to read about this year’s beneficiary Liz MacGillivray who is the wife of Derek MacGillivray. You may know Derek as he is a longtime employee of Mass Tire.

I have always said we all have issues that take the shape of a Cross nobody else can see. “Every living person carries an invisible cross, they are all different sizes and weight” Some can go about life easily and not even realize the weight or size of their cross, While many others struggle from the size and weight of their Cross and they are stuck in a place that is threatening their life.

If your cross is light, be grateful and Thank the God of your understanding. Liz is currently stuck under the weight of her cross brought on by a list of “Very Serious” Health Problems. For almost a year she has been unable to work, has been in and out of hospitals dealing with countless health issues such as Clostridioides difficile ( C-Diff) This infection can be fatal, it is Very toxic and contagious where full body suits are required when in contact with her. Liver disease which will be a lifelong battle to stabilize. Ketoacidosis (Diabetic Acidosis) which is when acids build up in your blood and is life threatening. Dealing with just one of these is difficult for anyone. Liz has been dealing with many of these simultaneously for almost a year and still struggling. She recently has left the Hospital and was sent to a rehabilitation facility to regain her strength as she continues her battles for life. At this time she can’t get out of bed or get to the bathroom on her own. It will be a long road and progress will be slow as she tries to obtain good health.

Being unable to work or assist at home has caused incredible stress and financial concerns for their family of 4. Many past life decisions and plans were based on both Derek and Liz working full time to obtain their goals. Her inability to work for the last year has caused tremendous hardships for the family and they need a lot of financial assistance while Liz works on her health and return home.

Do you recognize the burden your “Cross” inflicts in your life? Are you willing to reconcile in your own heart what you may be able to do for Liz and her family? Can you provide A prayer, A Get Well Card, A Financial Donation? Possibly all of those? All our individual circumstances vary. Some of you may be able to make a large donation and that is great. Just as important are the small donations, a Gift card or other gift to assist in paying the mortgage, utilities, groceries, and many other living expenses while Liz struggles to obtain good health, hope for the future and strengthen her Faith.

Whether large, small, or reoccurring your donation will relieve some of the stresses she and the family are experiencing during this difficult time and her fight for life.

Thank you in advance for and donation you can make.

Please make your donation or check payable to Derek MacGillivray
